SXSW 2012 : feedback on Interactive Awards
It's a bit late that we had discovered our nomination as finalists at the esteemed SXSW Interactive Award in the Art category.
It was hard to decide which one from our team would do the trip _ we would have loved to send the whole team ! Eventually Julia and Michael were the lucky ones who made it to Austin, Texas.
We spent a lot of time in the transports, with stops in London, and Chicago where we had to wait an extra day. Moreover, our hotel was located in San Antonio, the closest big neighboring city, for we couldn't find any room deal around Austin.
It meant that our visit to the SXSW festival was going to be quick. Only 3 days there, where we had to attend the SXSW Finalists Private Party, to teach the organizers of a Bordeaux Wine Tasting Party how to instal our Aquatypes piece for a night, and to attend the Interactive Awards Ceremony at the Hilton Hotel.
Three days packed with work and ceremonies, with music and crowds, all under an ever bright sun that added a lot to that special ambiance we enjoy about big festivals.
Finally Montreal-based filmmaker Vincent Morisset won the honors with his work in Flash Bla Bla.
Despite a return without a trophy, we were delighted to participate in this Texan adventure. It was an honor to have one of our pieces stand side by side with famous brands and tasteful digital products. SXSW has to be the most respected festival about interactive media worldwide.
