Poni Hoax played live @ Son'art in Bordeaux. For the occasion Arnaud and Julien were invited to perform their music and visual set on stage for the first part.
Artists
Sevenfive is the scene name of Arnaud Castagné who runs the studio Splank in Bordeaux. Since the end of the nineties, Arnaud produces electro tainted by synthetic hip-hop and experimental pop music. His fine cut beats, synth bass and melodic sounds are sometimes added bleeps&clicks, giving his style a melancholic but optimistic shade.
V3ga is the pseudonym used by Julien / 2Roqs when he plays live as a "VJ". He uses the tool Vision Factory to create responsive & real-time generated graphics on screen.
Interaction
The concert was the occasion to work on a sync mechanism between music and visuals, giving the live show a dynamic yet original perspective.
The communication between Ableton Live - used by Arnaud - and Vision Factory was achieved through the use of Midi protocol. Some particular messages were precisely synchronized with musical events(bass, vocals,...) and then translated into some visual events, which in turn were modulated through Vision Factory's interface.
Variations
Sevenfive logo was used as the main outline for the creation of an interactive animation. Autonomous agents (also called Boids) were moving along the main path, interacting with each other and thus creating abstract black&white images. An RGB filter was put so that an analogic feeling was added to the scene.
An interactive leds screen (based on Peggy) was also shot and displayed on screen, dynamic frames were driven by Vision Factory through the use of an Arduino board.
